How Melandrey Valentino Brought Elegance to a Boutique Skincare Brand Identity

It was one of those mornings where the blank brand board felt heavier than my coffee. I had just started working with a new client—a small, locally-based skincare brand looking for a refined, handcrafted visual identity. The brief mentioned words like “natural,” “luxurious,” and “authentic,” which immediately got me thinking about typography that could carry that soft sophistication without feeling too stiff or overdesigned.

That’s when I remembered Melandrey Valentino. A classy script font I had downloaded a few weeks earlier, it had been quietly sitting in my font library, waiting for the right project. I opened up my design tool and typed out the brand name in Melandrey Valentino for the first time. The result? Instantly elegant, yet approachable—like a handwritten note from a trusted friend.

First Impressions: A Script Font with Personality

Melandrey Valentino immediately stood out for its fluid, cursive strokes and subtle contrast between thick and thin lines. It’s the kind of script font that feels both timeless and modern, with a touch of playfulness in its ligatures and swashes. It’s not overly ornate like some vintage scripts, nor is it too minimalist like many modern calligraphy fonts. Instead, it strikes a perfect balance—ideal for brands that want to feel personal without sacrificing professionalism.

What really caught my eye was how it handled short-form text. Since the client’s brand name was only two words, I needed a font that could shine in a logo without needing too much extra design fluff. Melandrey Valentino delivered. It looked great in both all caps and lowercase, and I could easily adjust the letter spacing to make it feel more open and breathable on packaging and digital assets.

Logo Design: Setting the Tone for the Entire Brand

I started with the logo, placing Melandrey Valentino front and center. I paired it with a clean sans serif for the tagline to create contrast and visual hierarchy. The script font became the emotional anchor of the brand identity, while the sans serif grounded it in clarity and modernity.

One thing I appreciated was how well the font scaled. I tested it at different sizes—from a small business card print to a large storefront sign mockup—and it remained legible and graceful. That’s not always the case with script fonts, which can sometimes lose their charm when shrunk down or blown up too large.

Packaging Design: From Labels to Boxes

Once the logo was approved, I moved on to packaging. The brand needed product labels, box designs, and even small swing tags for their handmade soaps and balms. Melandrey Valentino worked beautifully across all these surfaces. On a small label, it added a touch of luxury without crowding the space. On a larger box, it created a sense of warmth and artisanal care.

I made sure to test the font in different color palettes—soft pastels, muted earth tones, and even a bold black-and-white version. It adapted well to each, especially when paired with a clean supporting typeface for ingredient lists and usage instructions. The contrast between the elegant script and the straightforward sans serif made the packaging feel both curated and functional.

Social Media & Digital Use: Standing Out Without Overdoing It

For the brand’s Instagram templates and website headers, I used Melandrey Valentino sparingly but effectively. It worked well in hero sections as a headline font and in quote graphics to highlight customer testimonials. I found that using it at a slightly larger size with generous line spacing helped maintain readability on screens.

One of the key benefits of using a premium script font like Melandrey Valentino in digital design is its ability to convey personality without overwhelming the layout. It gave the brand a distinct visual voice that felt human and handcrafted, which was exactly what the client was going for.

Font Pairing: Finding the Right Balance

When it came to pairing, I leaned on a classic combination: Melandrey Valentino with a neutral sans serif. I used Montserrat as the supporting typeface, which offered a clean, modern contrast that kept the design from leaning too romantic or nostalgic. This pairing worked across print, digital, and packaging materials, ensuring consistency and readability.

If I were to go a different route, I’d consider pairing it with a light serif like Playfair Display for a more editorial feel. But for this particular brand, the sans-serif pairing felt more appropriate—especially since they wanted to appeal to a younger, wellness-oriented audience.

What to Test Before Committing

Before finalizing the brand system, I ran a few key tests:

All tests came back positive. The font maintained its charm across mediums and didn’t cause any technical issues—something I’ve run into with less polished script fonts.

Final Thoughts: A Font That Feels Like a Design Partner

By the end of the project, I realized that Melandrey Valentino had become more than just a font choice—it had become a design partner. It helped me translate the client’s brand values into something visual, emotional, and consistent. Whether on a product label, a social media post, or a printed brochure, it brought a level of sophistication that felt earned, not forced.

If you’re working on a branding project that leans into elegance, craftsmanship, or a personal touch, I’d highly recommend giving Melandrey Valentino a try. It’s a versatile script font that can elevate your design work without stealing the show. And in the world of brand identity, that kind of balance is rare—and incredibly valuable.
